The Granddaddy of medicinal mushrooms, the Reishi mushroom is dubbed the “mushroom of immortality” in Chinese medicine. Revered medicinally for over 2,000 years, it has arguably the longest therapeutic history of any mushroom species. In Chinese medicine, Reishe was associated with spiritual potency, success, well-being, divine power, and longevity. Recent research has backed up those associations by showing a myriad of possible health benefits including boosting the immune system, anti-cancer properties, helping anxiety, depression and fatigue, hearth health, blood sugar control, and antioxidant properties. This slow growing, “wood-loving” mushroom grows best in sawdust substrates. The first stage of growth produces colorful, antler-like, mushrooms. In later stages of growth the antlers will fan out into larger circular disk shapes. The Reishi mushroom has a woody, bitter taste but makes wonderful teas, tinctures, powders, or as an ingredient in homemade treats.WHY MYYCO
